I couldn’t sleep because I was like a carne asada.

Have you ever heard this before?  I thought it was clever when I heard my mother in law say it.

What does that even mean? When you make a bbq, you sometimes make carne asada, right? The only way to cook it, is to be flip it back and forth; therefore if you say you were like a carne asada it means that you were tossing and turning all night.  Get it?

I couldn’t stop laughing when I finally understood what I meant. Next time your tossing and turning, tell someone you slept like a carne asada.
