I’m sure you all have done it with your spouse or friends, you race home to show them that you know a faster route.  This race cost my husband a ticket one day but I won, I got home first. Let me share my race to home.

First of all let me start by saying that him and I are very competitive.  He is always trying to prove me wrong, so I play his game.

We were coming from work but we had to stop by his mom’s to pick up the kids.  We had our truck just for our kids so we would have to split cars.  I would drive the truck with the kids and he would go alone in the other car.

The race was on every time.  We were head to head and we were approaching a stop sign.  We were traveling a street that had two lanes each direction. I was in the left lane and he was in the right lane. A car had parked in the right lane at the corner.  He had no choice but slow down to get behind me.  I made my stop and I kept going. He did the same stop and gets pulled over.

I pulled over up ahead because I wanted to see if he was really going to get a citation.  He did.  I was just around the corner from our house.  I ended up just going home with the kids.

Once he got home he told me that cop said that a green SUV and him didn’t stop at the stop sign, that we just rolled through it. Unfortunately he couldn’t get both of us, so he chose him.  I couldn’t stop laughing that he got caught and I escaped. I was the one driving the green SUV.

Lesson learned. We never raced home again. It cost us a painful ticket for being so competitive.
